Meeting called to order at 7PM

Old Business

  1. Minutes from the January 7, 2016 meeting were accepted with changes.

  2. Website – the polling (surveys) software for the website does not match Survey Monkey abilities so we will continue using the free version of Survey Monkey.

  3. Email Newsletters will be sent to the board before mailing to the mailing list. The letter will be sent out about once a month and will include a link to the article written for the Ledger.

  4. The electronic survey indicated most interest in these workshops in this order:

    • Solar power
    • Fruit Tree pruning
    • Backyard gardening/Food Canning
    • Food waste/Maple Syrup
  5. There was no communication from the Recyling Committee. Tabled

  6. Grants and fund raising.

    • Six fund raising letters where signed by President Koufos

    • Funds for the NH Mini grant were received by the Town in December 2015. The secretary will request checks be written against funds

    • An email from Julie Robinson and the Conservation Commission indicated that they were not interested in sponsoring joint workshops

    • Kay Doyon and Steve Doyon were present to discuss the “Hands On Chicken Processing Workshop.” The workshop is open to the public with preference given to Loudon residents. Workshop fee will be $50 per participant and each participant will leave with a processed chicken. Each participant can bring a “partner” for an extra $10 fee. Dot Perkins will help facilitate the workshop Participants will have to bring their own knives, ziplock bags, ice and a cooler. Proposed date is the beginning of June. The board will apply for a matching grant from the NH Dept of Agriculture to help pay for the workshop. Date of the workshop is June 11th. The secretary will set up a Constant Contact registration form for participants. Payment will be by check sent to Cindy Shea who will document payments and give the funds to the Town for disbursement. The workshop will be publicized in the Loudon Ledger and through the Ag Commission newsletter.

  7. A workshop (fee to be determined) for training to use the Beginning Farmer Chicken Processing trailer will be provided. Secretary will investigate costs and availability.

  8. The Secretary was given approval to apply for the NH Dept of Ag Mini grant for proposed workshops.

  9. The President will contact the Planning Board about the Master Plan and will report back via email to the Board.

  10. The President will prepare a Loudon Ledger piece about gardening including the concept of planting a row to donate to the food pantry.

  11. Agritourism was discussed. The secretary will contact the State Ag Committee for a copy of their proposed wording.

  12. The Secretary will request to have a “booth” at the March Town Meeting. Residents can sign up on our email list. We will bring Town Farm map flyers and a newly designed questionnaire including the survey just sent out.

New Business

  • Approval was given to send an email to the mailing list about the Granite State Graziers conference to be held on Feb 20 at the Audubon Center.
